Caring For A Leather Saddle! Any tips on caring for a leather saddle?!
Thanks! :) |
I use Passier bridle cleaner on my saddles and bridles. It is more expensive and comes in a small bottle, but you would be surprised at how long it lasts! And is smells great and keeps them very conditioned. I don't really oil my tack often, but in winter I sometimes put on a few coats of Obenauf's oil which keeps everything nice and water resistant. I use Fiebings saddle soaps and neatsfoot oils. I try to clean and oil once a month. If I rode often enough Id try to clean every two weeks. Horse sweat and arena dirt arent good for leather, so I minimally try to wipe down tack with a soft rag after every ride. |

I don't clean my tack as often as I should. A general clean I use Horseman's One Step. A big good clean, I use Fieblings. |
I clean with Horseman's One Step cream after every ride. I love that stuff. I don't like what oil does to leather, so I don't use it if the leather doesn't need it. When I have stiff leather to condition, I use Lexol oil. |
