Vests vs. Jacket?
Which do you prefer to ride in, in the winter? I like vests better so I can move my arms easier. How about you all? :-P:lol:
I like vests. I often get too hot wearing a heavy jacket when I tack or ride, so a vest fits perfectly. Though, I'm one of those people that when its 45, I'll be wearing a shirtsleeve shirt and normal breeches. I'm a little biased in the cool weather... I like to freeze!
I do like a jacket here and there, I have a horseware Ireland fleece jacket and it fits great and it's super soft, I just can't wear it riding. I have nice soft red vest (warm enough mostly) and I just bought a poofy horseware vest and I can't wait to wear it!
Funny you should post this. I've recently become addicted to vests. I never rode in them before, but now that I have, I really like the tradeoff between arm freedom and warmth. Great combo.
I wear both!! I do like the freedom of a vest but overall they aren't as warm as a nice jacket...

I like vests, they give me enough warmth in the cold but keep me from overheating while I ride. :)
Both. Bodywarmer (as we call them) in summer over a tee on cool days, and body warmer over thermals and shirt under jacket in winter. It's cold here.
I wear both. I'll use my vest until it gets down to about freezing, then switch to my jacket.
i like to layer! I will wear a fleece jacket with a vest overtop or if it's really cold I will wear my Ariat heavy duty mountain jacket, im a furnace with that thing on! Cool thread!
When it's really cold (below freezing outside and a wind chill), I am bundled up fully in a warm winter coat, and riding snowpants.
When it's 40's or 50's (depending on sunshine and wind variables), I don't mind wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a vest.
All-in-all though, I do prefer a full coat just because I have the inability to keep my body warm!! My arms get too cold!
I'm a fan of vests. I get really hot while riding, even in the winter.
