Glucosamine and Msm
Ok, so my question to all you wonderful people out there is.............. how do you know if your horse needs these things or not? And will it hurt to give them if they are not needed? I know it will hurt the bank but, will it hurt the horse? And is it a good idea after a certain age to maybe include it in the diet???

It won't hurt the horse to give these to them, but why bother if they don't need them?
Like older people, older horses lose the lubrication in their joints as they age. I'd say once a horse starts showing signs of being gimpy, would be the time to get them on a joint supplement.

Ok thanks, just wondered. Didn't know if it should be included like a vitamin. We are supposed to take them ( I am bad and do not) so wondered.

Naw, doesn't need to be included like a vitamin.
If the horse is being worked really hard, long, and not given a lot of time off, you could always start them on it to help slow down the regular degeneration that comes with age and hard work.

Ok great, thanks! I guess what got me thinking about them was before I knew my mare had an abscess, he was limping and it got me thinking since I had just gotten her. But now we know what it was and she is better.
