Blanketing a bib clipped horse
This morning I bib clipped my horse and I am looking for some blanketing advice. In addition to clipping half of his neck and chest I also clipped the girth area under his belly. He is turned out during the day everyday, and every other night he goes in his stall. So he will be spending some nights outside. If anyone has any advice about what weight blanket to use for different temperatures for a bib clip it would be greatly appreciated. He has a rain sheet, lightweight (150 g), and a fleece sheet so far.
Thank you very much!
I couldn't find my usual go-to picture blanketing chart but here it is, only pdf-style: http://d1engbabf2cb77.cloudfront.net...ANKETS-PDF.pdf
I would just somewhat stick to that chart. Obviously different horses have different needs (mine needs a warmer blanket 5-10 degrees before most charts said she should) but they're handy rule-of-thumb-wise. :)
thanks for the chart, definitely helps as a basic guideline. I stuck the light weight on him for the night outside. It's a hard choice when it still feels like 50 degrees and at dawn it will feel like 29!
