Helmet Color For Hunter Show I own an IRH XR9 that I love. I originally ordered it in black about two years ago, but they shipped a black/charcoal one to me instead. I ended up keeping it, and all was fine. I was involved in jumpers, and never gave it a second thought. http://img.smartpak.com/product/300x...3_Charcoal.jpg Now, I am on my way to accepting a working student position at a very active Hunter barn. I really don't want to be unprepared, but I also really don't have the money to spend on a new helmet. I've shown hunters in my black/charcoal IRH at rated shows, but i just want to get some other opinions on the matter. If you feel i should get a new helmet, some links to REALLY discounted helmets would be amazing (i got my IRH for $70. I'm an amazing bargain shopper haha). |

To be sure, I paged thru photos of the 2012 Maclay finals and the indoor shows. The hunter riders are all wearing solid black helmets, though the IRH looks to be a popular choice. Sorry I can't help you with links, but I'd be shopping for a new helmet in your situation, maybe use your current one as a schooling helmet. |
Thanks! I figured i would probably end up having to use it for schooling. Oh the expenses of equine activities....... |
@Maura, i really appreciate the help! Thank you (: |
Could you use a helmet cover or is that considered to be a big nono? Posted via Mobile Device |
I've heard this idea, and might consider it. It's just that, it never looks quite as nice ): I'd rather get a good deal on a nice helmet in the right color, you know? Luckily, it's black friday :D hoping to find some deals. |
Covers are not... Fashionable in the hunter world. :) your grey and black should be ok. You won't stick out like a sore thumb. But the majority will have solid black. Posted via Mobile Device |
I know i've shown in it in plenty of hunter classes. I just want to be prepared for my working student position. I figure I'll bring it on my visit, and if it poses a problem, then I'll look into purchasing a new one. |
You should be just fine with it, I wouldn't worry too much about. But I would maybe start putting a little bit of money away every now and then to invest in a solid black one for the future. |
