Home from the vet

Beamer came home from the vet today after a six day stay. Poor guy!

He is doing soooooo much better, but it is going to be a long road to recovery. Lucky for him and me after the ultrasound there were no tears in his tendon, but it was stretched pretty bad. To make things worse he had an abscess bust today on the same leg. Vet thinks it was all part of the same injury that hurt his leg.

I have to tend to him twice a day for several weeks, which is going to kill me considering he is 20 minutes from my house. Oh well. Plus the vet bill about knocked me down. Guess that is life.

On the bright side I got to ride him one time before his injury.
:D

He is doing much better than he was that is for sure. I have to keep him stalled for several weeks, but all in all he is doing great. I am going out everyday after work to care for him.

I got some new pellet based bedding for his stall over the shavings and it is great. I mean great! 1,000,000 times better and about the same price, but you don't use as much over time. I was using a bag of savings a day at 5.50 a bag and I have yet to use a bag of this stuff and it has been 5 days. I cannot remember the name, but if anyone is interested let me know.

I'd be quite interested in that, if it can be bought here in the UK.

Gosh, your shavings sound cheap over there, I pay £8.00 per bag thats about $15.00.

Glad Beamers improving. Keep us posted wont you. :D

I can't seem to remember the exact name brand of mine right now, but check out these links. They are all pretty much the same thing.

I think it is called Equine Pine...I found this information:
http://www.equinepine.com/article1.html

They come in 40lb bags here in the U.S. They work really great! They can be used for other animals as well...pigs, goats, even cats!

meggymoo 04-13-2007 04:13 PM

Thanks for that... I think I need to move over there!

  For the same bedding over here, your looking at about £8.50-£10.00 per bag, thats $16-$19.00.

Probably work out cheaper to import it by the truck load!!
