Scratch - treatment & advice
I have a 9 year old double registered Arab/QH mare. About a month ago she was diagnosed with 'Scratch'. We began treatment based off of the vets directions. A week or so in I asked the advice of a secondary veterinarian who gave some different advice. It has been over a month now and the scratch is still persisting.
She is now completely lame on all four feet, predominantly both rear, and struggles to put weight and balance herself. Her pasterns are swollen, red and a bit hot to the touch.
I am not sure what to keep doing and will be getting in touch with the vet again when I call tomorrow. The problem is she is obviously in pain and with her inability to walk steadily and balance herself. She will not lay down to rest or roll either.
Any advice? it is really needed and much appreciated.
