Absolutely dumbfounded.....

as to why my horses are choosing to stand out in the ridiculous storm we are in the middle of! We have had constant heavy rain and high wind with gusting to 50mph ALL night long with no signs of stopping anytime soon and do you think either of them will use the VERY nice barn my hubby built me that I insisited we had to have done before ANYthing else on the property because the horses MUST have it? Nope. I just wish they would cooperate so I would feel better. Do any of you lock up your horses inside their stalls during bad weather? I will admit it has crossed my mind, but I keep thinking if they wanted to be in they would go in. They use the heck out of it in the summer. Go figure. Anyone else have loony horses and wanna chime in so I dont feel like mine are the only ones?? ;)

During hurricanes we turn all the horses loose to the pasture. God forbid the barn collapse, but if it did, at least they wouldn't be trapped under it. Same goes for trees and other cover. I think horses sometimes have more sense than we give them credit for. Better to he cold and/or wet than squished or struck by lightning!

HAHAHA. Aww thats funny!

My baby is other way around. Shes acts like a princess. Whenever it drizzles, rains, storms, etc. I always see her inside her run-in. She isn't a big fan of getting wet.

My old horse didn't care at all, he'd stand there and get wet. He liked the rain and getting bathes. Haha. (:

I quit building sheds for them years ago. If they are being 'fitted', they get put in the barn. If not, they fend for themselves and do just fine.

Mine do frequently get under trees or behind bushes and trees to get out of a North wind. I have had 3 horses struck by lightning in the last 50 years, all in the Colorado mountains before I moved to Oklahoma where there are a lot worse storms. Two were standing together out in the open during a thunderstorm with trees a good bit away and one was standing under a tree.
