Anyone seen/heard of this? [WARNING gross]
Ok so I was looking up pearl coloured horses when I came across this. I thought it was some sort of weird egg... Until i read the description..
ΠΡΠ°ΡΠΈΠ²ΡΠΉ ΠΏΠΎΠ½ΠΈ, derpygrooves: See this? This came out of a...
I heard horses got this from ingesting sand, but I don't know, never seen them shiny like that though.
Ah ok. Yeah, I'd look it up more, but i'm too grossed out by it ...
Curious myself - my first thought was it a type of mineral deposit akin to kidney and bladder stones.
It's commonly believed that enteroliths are caused by a diet too high in calcium. It's been said that feeding a diet of straight alfalfa can predispose a horse to them, but I am more inclined to believe that a horse has to have some genetic predisposition (like people with gallstones or kidney stones) toward getting them. My family has had horses for generations and we've fed a majority of them straight alfalfa throughout their lives and never had a problem with enteroliths.
Wow, I google imaged it, and it showed people selling them for 200-300 dollars.. WHO in the world would buy one of those things? Lol.
Id buy one..lol. While the fact that it came out of a horse's intestine isnt lovely, they look pretty cool, haha.
