White nose mucous?
Just as I was leaving for the day, my mare gave a great big snort and sprayed out all this white mucous. She has also had a tendency to cough once or twice the last couple times I have been out. She doesn't have any swellings on her jaw/throat. Wasn't able to take a temperature.
I know I should get a vet out to check on her, but are there any other symptoms I should be looking for? She is definitely not off her food and is as spunky as ever.
I'd be tempted to owe it to dusty hay, but she's living outside in a wet climate now, and never had this problem before in dry, dusty Alberta.
Also, anybody with recommendations for a vet in Surrey/Whiterock, BC area would be really appreciated!
This is typically caused by dust or some allergic reaction up in the nose.
Watch for general illness signs (not eating, not drinking, lethargy) or labored breathing (sounds like a bad chest cold). Any of those and you should have a vet out right away.
