Is this normal?
Now that both my horses are eating more hay than pasture my mare's manure has started to look more like cow paddys. There are some balls mixed in with it but it is nothing like it was when they were on more pasture than hay (during the summer). The hay is bermuda and very green, both horses get the same hay, no grain, just pasture and hay. Yes they have been wormed and are checked regularly so....does switching to more hay cause this? My gelding has had no change in his manure. Other than the change in her manure my mare acts like herself. Thanks for the help!

Any diet change will affect feces one way or another in any animal. I would watch her for awhile and if it persists, add something like beet pulp to add fiber.

ETA: When were her teeth last done?

Her teeth were done last month. Do you think this warrants a vet call?

No, not unless it continues for quite some time. Likely, the hay is just too rich for her right now. If it were my horse, I would give her a couple weeks to see if she adjusted, and if not, then substitute some hay for another kind of roughage [grass pellet or cube of sorts, beet pulp, etc] and see if that helped. If that didn't help, then yes, at least call your vet.
