Cross Country Protective Vests?
Hi all, I'll be starting beginner cross country soon with my OTTB and will need a protective vest. I just want some opinions on which ones you think/prefer are better.
This mare hasn't jumped a ton (1ft verticals, while riding her) so she's not completely experienced. The highest she jumped was 3ft, free jumping. The only reason I say that is just so you guys know that she's more green with this type of stuff, so I'm pretty much expecting to fall off a few times.
do not get a tipperary or anything with that more form-fitting tiny squares style, they are not certified and arent as protective! Mine is not listed in the ones you posted but I will try to look at the brand as I like it and it has served me well ;)
i have a $75 dollar vest(brand new) that is certified, and has saved my butt(and spine!) about 35 times. My horse was quite green when i started xcountry as well. I highly reccommend the charles owen, they are very comfortable and safe.
I'm a huge Airowear fan.
You've got to just go and try them on. Different people prefer different manufacturers depending on their own physique.
It must hug you nicely, while allowing you to breathe.
It must not bump on the saddle behind you.
And it must be extremely unflattering
I have a Rodney Powell, they're pretty good as far as body protectors go although a bit more expensive.
