What color fake would you get?
There's a deal on fake tails, so I'm getting a tapered 26" 1/2 lb to show my yearling in 2013. She is sorrel on top and flaxen underneath. What would be your preferred color choice for her tail, or should I have one made in a certain way?
I think I would go with sorrel. The flaxen could be too eye catching. You want to be noticed, but not for a tail that stands out too much. Plus I don't think the flaxen looks like this youngsters final hair color.
PS - where is the good deal on tails?

I keep waiting for Lily to grow out of her flaxen, but she still has it. She has a lot of white inside her buttcheeks and roaning at the base of her tail. I can't tell if she's actually two-toned or if she'll grow out of it... I might do a light sorrel with a little flax mixed in.
Just ask her what her Holiday special is for what kind you would like.
Her rabicano shouldn't cause her tail to be flaxen and it looks like she might grow out of it, especially because her mane doesn't appear to hint at being flaxen.
You can get them blended sorrel/flaxen that would be my choice.:D I don't think she will grow out of the flaxen in her tail.
I was hoping she would have a "spesciul" tail xD
But I think you might be right. I asked the tail maker to be sure, by I'm thinking a blend between the two in case she goes either way.
At the suggestion of the tail maker, I looked at her roots to make sure the flaxen wasn't sunbleached sorrel baby hair. It turns out her tail has sorrel roots on the top, and flaxen roots on the bottom. I think if the roots of the hair underneath are flaxen, it's a good chance that it's her natural hair color?
Thinking about special ordering a light flaxen with a medium sorrel center.
Do any of you genetics people have an idea why there is two different expressions on the root of the tail? I always thought that sabinos/rabicanos could effect the tail hair... but I'm not sure. :/
Just want to say that Lily is looking fabulous! And id like more pictures please!

I think a flaxen tail would be very pretty and eyecatching, especially if you can somehow get it to look natural. It would also bring out her lighter flank and belly which is kinda unique! :)
I am against fake tails for showing.
A fake tail as a humane aid for swatting flies is ok.
But as usual, I'm sure that's just me.
