trail to show saddle?
I have a Billy Cook trail saddle and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on whether or not I could convert it in to a show saddle. I don't plan on going to big shows anytime soon, so I was thinking of adding some silver to it and removing the leather bits that hang down(Iforgot what they are called). I was also wondering about maybe removing the back cinch. I don't have precise pictures of it but this one looks like it might be the same one but with different conchos, I can't remember the style number of mine. http://www.dailyequine.com/horsesadd...ail-saddle.jpg

A word of caution: if you opt for corner plates they must match the stitch line exactly or they will scream " Add-ons " and can devalue the saddle. No one sees a horn cap except the rider. The saddle in the pic has screw in conchos with the D rings attached underneath. One merely unscrews the conchos and removes the D ring and strings for showing. If your has strings that run thro the tree then you need to look for conchos with slots in them. Do not remove the strings.

The strings attach the same as in the photo on metal loops below the conchos. I will get the saddle's style number and photos tonight. I have no plans of selling it since I love it a lot and I know exactly what mismatched corner plates look like. Yuck.
