Teaching a calf to lead
Now I don't have a calf but I was wondering if teaching them to lead is like teaching a horse to lead Orr If its done differently?

WAY differently, I believe! Often times they are very stubborn and when you pull, they begin to balance themselves on the lead and pull back. Sometimes they pull so hard back that they fall to their sides.... hard. You also need to use an adjustable rope halter, usually the halter and lead are in the same piece of equipment. I found that not leading them until about a month old is good, that way they do not lean on the lead too much and are sturdy enough to have enough balance. However, before the month old, I will tie them up with the halter on in a short-ish lead. Also let them drag the halter with the lead around in the pen.

interesting question as to which i have no clue since i've never halter broke a horse lol.

but calves & cows arn't bad at all, but thats what I grew up with. if they are inclined to follow you then obviously they are easier to halter break.

a few of my show calves would get walked before getting their breakfast or dinner so they wanted to walk towards the house so they could get their grain and made it a lot easier.

I've halter broken more ornery steers than young horses! The halters have a chain that goes through them and that helps. We usually have two people, one tugging and one twisting their tail for the real nasty ones. When they behave they get the pressure off. For a super young calf, you have one person lightly tug and another person push or walk with a bottle, depending on the calf.
