For Christmas this year, I decided to create a digital painting/sketch from a couple of photos that I had. I got them printed onto canvas and vola! I instantly had a "unique piece of artwork" to gift. Granted, they're certainly not as beautiful as a real hand painted or sketched piece of artwork would be. But when printed onto canvas, they simply look like a re-print of an original painting.
If anyone else would be interested in having a photo digitally painted/sketched for free, let me know. Winkflash.com is offering 60% off custom canvas orders currently and they make for a pretty cool Christmas gift. Enjoy :-)
For the sake of clarity; did you paint these or add a filter "painted" effect?
These were digitally done, meaning by the use of a filter. When printed into canvas I have discovered that they look like a painting reprint but unfortunately they don't have the real brush strokes like an original painting would. Just something fun to do and play around with.

Thought I would get a clarification; the wording made it seem like it was digitally painted -- you drew it -- and using a filter could have caused someone to think misrepresentation on your part. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who slap a filter onto a photograph and say they drew/painted it...
In short, being "digitally done" no longer means just editing photos in Photoshop. I, myself, have used Photoshop for drawing purposes.
Some people, like myself, use the digital form for drawing, too. So "painting" can also mean like when you paint on paper, but using a digital program like Photoshop. Refer to the video below (and others like it). Not my favorite example, but it moves the point.
Best of luck!
Creampuff, I was unaware that there are so many different meanings associated with the word "digital painting". Thank you for the clarification! That video is simply amazing!
