4 year old AQHA mare
I am extremely interested in this 4 year old mare. I just wanted to get a general consensus about her overall appearance. I would be mostly trail riding her and showing her in Western pleasure in show local/fun shows. Thanks in adavance!:-)
Errrrr wow ... that girl is REALLY downhill .. I mean excessively so. Unless there is something with the ground there or someone took one wonky picture, but if that's her normal stance, I would definitely pass.
Yeah, the ground looks pretty flat so I was hoping it was just a wonky angle/picture. I am going to look at her tomorrow, but you're right she is REALLY downhill.
She is downhill, but it looks like her butt is closer to the camera than her front and the photo was taken at an angle so that is not helping at all.
She has a steepish croup, mutton withers and is a bit light in bone. She has a nice shoulder and it looks lie her point of shoulder is set nicely. Assuming the excessive down hill is due to camera angles, she is actually pretty nice.
Holy butt high!!!
You'd be surprised how many western horses are downhill. I mean, we breed them to have these HUGE butts, what can we expect here?
My mare is so downhill no matter what I do the saddle falls onto her shoulders. Drives me CRAZY, I was taught never to saddle on the shoulders. Moral though, it won't hold her back in the trail and not in the WP ring either hopefully.
This won't look pretty in Western Pleasure class but it might really help out riding on terrain...
The downhill aside, I like her. The picture, the angle, and it also looks like the person with the camera was crouched lower to the ground because it looks like the picture was taken upwards. Anyhow, I LOVE the front end on this mare. The way her neck attaches at the withers and the chest...she'll hang her head right out there with a nice break at the withers. I don't find her light in bone for the main reason being she's not overly bodied...the bone matches the amount of body she's carrying. I'd like to see a real confo shot.
