So who does it, what weight, ie light weight, medium weight and heavy weight? Oh and photos please.
Ricky my black stallion has 2 light weights and a medium which he isn't going to be wearing much this winter as we are trying to get him used to shetland weather they were for last winter and this summer when he was ill/injured and had been in for 2 months 3 different times. Molly's is a heavy weight that we got when we were told by a 'knowledgeable' person though she would be fine with a light weight. Prince has a medium and heavy weight as he winters terribly, Mara wears Ricky's light weights as she lost a little weight, Dinky has a light as she is wintering terribly.
Now photo time;
Ricky is up first,
Totally shameful! LOL
I know it is despicable isn't it. ;)
stable rugs at night depending on the weather and how cold it is and the same with turnout rugs depending on the weather.
tricky is a welsh sec a and is 27 years old and quincy is a cob 4 years old.
i look at it like this i work out in all weathers if i feel cold thay do to so i treat them as i would my self acording to the weather.
I use up to a medium weight blanket... Basically just to keep them warm without them needing a winter coat of their own.
I use a basic sheet as a wind breaker and for lightly cold nights and then the medium weight for the colder temps.
Draftgirl I love the lime green on the Chestnut and white. Bluebird I was told of on facebook for rugging them, rugging an unclipped shetland that isn't worked is almost unheard of in Shetland as they are of course bred to live up here. I don't think I would need the paper bag as many more shetland are rugged on the mainland then Shetland so I think I would be safe. And agree they do look cuter with their rugs but Dinky in the spotted on moreso, shame she is so small the rug is too long on her legs but fits her back, I hope she grows into it.
