I am at a lost of what this handsome boy I got is ! What are ya'lls opinions ?!

Looks like a paint (as in APHA) to me. Possibly a spotted saddle horse, but I'm leaning more toward paint with a lot of thoroughbred influence.

He looks to be typical stock horse breeding to me too, but pictures can often be decieving. Does he seem to be gaited in any way or does he have the normal 3 gaits?

I actually have only had him a week and have not yet got the chance to ride him. It's been raining here and has been nasty all week. The girl I got him off of told me he was a quarter horse , but I've been told he can't be . So , now I am just trying to figure out what breed(s) he may be . He is around 15hh and def has a smaller head then my TWH's !

i tend to side with drafty. tb type paint.

He is very narrow chested, I wouldn't put too much faith in there being a lot of stock horse breeding.

I wish I had better pics of him ...some of them are from where the girl sent me pics before I went to see him and some are what I took when he got here . What kinda pics would make it easier to determine breed?

smrobs 12-17-2012 05:46 PM

There really aren't any particular pictures that will make telling his breed any easier. Unless it comes to light that he's gaited, I'm going to stick with some kind of stock horse, probably with a higher percentage of Thoroughbred breeding, like Drafty said.

I am a long way from an expert on the pinto patterns, but I think he is a tobiano. Quarter horses don't carry tobiano, so if that's what he is, then he can't be a quarter horse. It might be possible that one parent was a QH...so long as the other was a pinto.

Thanks for the opinions! I honestly don't have a clue! Now aren't TB's temperamental and fast?

Common misconception. Most people judge all TBs based on how they see racehorses act on the track, but there are just as many that are very calm and mellow and lazy as there are ones that are hot and flighty and tempermental.
