Letting your horses out in the yard to graze..........
Who else lets their horses out to just run around the yard and graze at will??
My horses are out my windows right now just hanging out, lol. I shut the gates and let them out from time to time to eat down the grass. Once I get my nice yard in I will have to give that more thought.
Lol I tried - but my mischievous little minis would rather rip the siding off our house and chew down our deck than graze! I've talked with the hubby about rigging up a portable corral to let them graze down spots of the yard without having a full run of it but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe next summer! :)
I do. Back, years ago when we lived in S. California, our back property line was the national forest. We use to turn them loose to graze there, hollar at them before sundown, and they'de come on home.
In our old place I used to let them graze in the front yard as it was fenced in (under supervision). One of these years, we'll get things completely fenced where we are now and then I would probably do it again.
I am fortunate enough to have fencing around our property that I can jump a hot wire tape to if needed to keep them away from my truck and such. Last spring the buggers decided to try out my ornamental grasses that I had planted in pots at our entry for decoration. Gah! LOL. Once it was raining and they came under the entry to keep dry. Freaked me out cause our front door has a window in it and all I saw was this BIG butt!! But at first I was not sure what it was, lol.
I did before the rabbits moved in. But the pony was always causing trouble.
Here are the neighboring pasture horses, 2 of 3. All three are suddenly gone, my two miss them.
^^^^ aweeeeeeeeeee. And your one guy looks like one of mine. Here he was looking in at me. Last spring or summer.
I do, and one got in the habit of staring in the bathroom window early in the morning waiting for breakfast. Like most people you get up, go to bathroom then go feed horses. Oh did I mention my bathroom window doesnt have a curtain and is right next to the toilette ? scares the heck out of an over night guest. Course I just lay in bed and laugh the first time cause I know whats coming.
We used to let em mow at the old place, it was fenced. Now we do but we gotta stay with em, the backyard now is 15 acres and only fenced on two sides. http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/...psb3df7105.jpg
