A Saturday in the Life of Henny (Photo DUMP)
So on Saturday I took Henny to another Groundwork clinic at the same place/with the same trainer as last month. It's been almost a month since Henny's accident and so far he is doing amazingly. He walks perfectly, he can move his left ear!!, and his head tilt is slowly getting less noticeable. He's slowly being weaned off the dexamethasone, only getting it every other day, but he is still getting bute every day. He amazes me with how far he's come. As a side note, he's now fully dropped. Time for a little snip snip real soon
Anyways, it's an hour haul to the clinic. It took us 20 minutes to get hooked up and loaded(woohoo!) We got there at 9, and stayed until almost 5. Later than last time!! Henny did awesome just like last time. This time he got to chill a bit until the end and was the last horse to be worked with since he'd been through it before. With just dropping and his head injury, he's been very testy lately so the clinic helped "remind" him who was in charge. He learned more, and I learned more as well. In fact, I think I learned more than he did. Too bad I was shaking all day :/ Buuuut he did great and is getting better and better at trailering. When we loaded up to go home he hopped right on without any hesitation. This coming from the baby that will literally pace circles in the trailer while going 60 MPH. Silly boy. Next time we trailer I'll be tying him. I've been letting him go loose without a divider to help him learn his feet, and he's got that down now(obviously LOL). ANYWAYS, here's what y'all came for. Pictures ;D
"Moooom lemme out!! I hear other ponies!"
Watching a difficult to trailer horse. At this point Henny decided to grab a mouthful of rocks. I had to pull his lips apart and they all came tumbling out. =.=
Giving my friend Raven kisses. And yes, it rained on and off Saturday. It felt great!
He looks so innocent in this picture. Gotta love those big eyes <3
Checking out the cows in the pasture next door. He loved them!
Doing some flexing exercises
A break from yielding hindquarters
I love this picture for some reason. He's so well mannered :D
Continued in next post!!
looks like you had a good time and Henny did well! he's such a great horse! and I love his highlights!
Thanks Sam! :) They're trying to have these once a month, so I will definitely be going back next month. Even if it's just to let Henny sit there and chill, it's good experience and a great friendly environment I love. We all know each other by name after just being there two times. It's awesome!
Awwww I just love your Henny! He's so loved! Perhaps it's because I have a Henny too? And my Henny is a pretty easy going guy too:-)
i enjoyed looking at theses pictures what a sweet little guy you have, love that last picture :)
Thanks guys :) He's the sweetest tempered horse I've met, even when he tries to be a stud muffin LOL
