Whats your daily feed routine?
I hope I am posting this in the right category haha
So I was wondering what everyones horse feeding routines are?
I dont own a horse but I might be buying one I ride regularly in the new year, depending on how things work out, and I was also wondering how horses are taking a new feeding routine? By this I mean the horse gets fed at 9am, but as Im still in school it would be have to be fed at 7am, and so on if that makes sense.

Anyway, post away!

I feed the 2 big horses grain in the morning before I got to school, between 7:00-7:30, then after the first school at about 11:30 I feed grain again but also give hay to the big horses and the minis, then when I get home from the second school at about 5:00 they get grained again and the big horses get more hay. Once the big horses are at a better weight I will cut it back to only twice a day though.

My horses get fed when i get out to the barn Between 6:30Am and 9:30 Am. I put out enough hay to last 24 hours so only feed once a day. I do check on them through out the day plus i check again at 10- 10:30pm. They get no grain so dont have to mess with that.

My gelding gets:
7:30AM- 3 flakes hay and grain
12:00PM- 1 flake hay
5:30 PM- 3 flakes hay and grain
In the summer he grazes all day so only need for hay is at 530 for at night in his stall, other than that its the same.

8 am
feed grain equivalent, dump haynet leftovers, rake old hay up, put out new hay, clean run-in, pick paddock, check water, fill or change, if necessary, portion hay for lunch
Feed grain equivalent, throw in hay, pick paddock, fill haynets for night feeding
Feed grain equivalent, hang up haynets, check water, pick apples

My horse is boarded so he gets fed throughout the day- hay feedings in early morning (~6am?), early afternoon (~2pm) and night (~9pm). He also gets hard feed split into two meals approximately 11am and 7pm.

It sounds like you'd be keeping your horse at home- so the key points to remember are (1) to keep hay available as close to full time as you can (putting hay into a small hole hay net makes it last MUCH longer and decreases waste) and (2) to avoid high sugar/starch grains, but if you must feed them, break them into as many small meals as you can throughout the day.

My horse is turned out on a pasture with a round bale 24/7. She gets two pounds of grain around 9 am and one pound of grain at 6 pm.

My horses (10) are pastured as close to 24/7 as I can manage. They have 24/7 access to a big round bale of grass hay and in the evening, if the weather is nice, I feed about 2 lbs of Strategy to each horse. If the weather is supposed to be bad, I lay about 1/3 bale of grass hay 15 lbs +/-) for each horse, fill the water buckets and put out Strategy for dinner and then bring them in. If the weather stays bad, then I feed about 1/3 bale of grass hay to each horse in the morning, otherwise if it's nicer, they go back out on pasture.
