Help Gum in dogs paw!
Someone has obviously been gross and just chucked their chewed gum on the ground instead of in the bin at our house. Now our german shepherd puppy has stepped in it.
Bear now has gum stuck to the hair in his paw. Does anyone know how to get it out without having to try and cut it out?
Peanut butter. First I might put ice on it to harden it up and pick as much off as you can that way. Then, rub peanut butter on it and that softens it up. If it is on her foot she likely doesn't have too long of hair there, right? You could cut a bit of it away just be super careful not to cut skin. I hate it when that stuff happens.

I would say ice too.

Thanks for the replies. The hair in his paws isn't long, I'm just worried I might cut him if he wriggles while I try to cut it out.

I was going to suggest the ice and peanut butter too. :-)

Yep - peanut butter. The upside is that there is no reason for concern if/when the pupster licks at it afterwards as there would be with some other options. Use ice with caution with respect to the pads/skin.

I like the ideas though my mum just got me to use eucalyptus oil and it got the worst of it out though he wasn't very happy about it. HAs anyone had success with that?
This is why I don't like gum, no one seems to be able to put it a bin.

I hate gum also, I am sorry but those who chew gum with their mouth open look like cows chewing cud.

Use the wax removing oil you get with the at home hair waxing kits! Works a treat and doesn't hurt or harm the pup:-)
