Possible Buy *First Eventing horse!*
He is a newly turned 13 year old TB gelding 17+hh super great personality, I would love for any experienced Eventers or anyone to critique him for me. I went to go ride him about a week ago I am going back in a couple of days to see him again, he is a lovely horse I would just like to get an outside opinion =) Thanks so much! :D

He is handsome. What kind of eventing are you doing? From what I can see and I'm no expert but he looks uphill with very prominent withers. His chest seems a lil pointy maybe he just needs more muscle or weight. Shoulder angle seems a lil steep that might be what's off about his chest to me. And pasterns are a lil long the angle seems a lil steep on the front. But long pasterns are typical for TB's. Also his hind quarters don't strike me as powerful. But I'm sure more someone who knows more about conformation will tell you more.

Yeah When I went to go see him he need more muscle, so when he gains more muscle he should fill out a bit more, he has a decent jump I have a video but again if/when he gains more muscle I assume it will improve. I am doing lower level eventing =) and thanks so much for your critique it is much appreciated!

I think if he had a decent jump for lower level eventing then I would look into what advantages and disadvantages his shoulder angle can give you. And if those long pasterns can stand the test of time and wear and tear of repetitive jumping. There's probably a few more things but I'm a barrel racer not a jumper :-) . Some weight and muscle would make him look like a totally different horse. When I buy a horse athlete I look at their pasterns, the power their hind quarters can offer me, the angle of the shoulder, legs, and of course their mind. Good luck in your eventer search I'm barrel horse shopping right now myself it takes awhile to find the right one.
