Horse bleeding from privates?
here is the situation sorry its so long....
My gelding has been getting kinda mean to my old mare lately since the weather changed and we haven't gotten him out. yesterday i noticed him getting more mean then usual and just "herding" her from one pen to another ( i have 2 stalls that are open to each other i had a pig panel gate up but he ran through it about a little under 2 month ago and cut himself up so i just took it down) Anyways my neighbor shows up tonight about 9:30 and says she heard a loud bang and looked out and saw him just straight kick her hard, so hard she broke off the top wood rail. anyways so my daughter went and got her out and she had nicks and scratches all over and then a large stream of blood coming down her back legs and tail. i couldn't see from where it was coming so we took off her blanket got some warm water and started wiping. I thought it had to be a decent size gash but found nothing, the blood was from her vagina down to her hooves. Anyways it was enough blood to cover that area but i was also thinking that it looked like WAY more then it was cause it is VERY cold here and i think froze quickly to her, so shes all cleaned up, we went and hammered boards up to separate them till i get a new gate tomorrow. then checked her again and it seems to be coming from her vagina just a very very very small bit. so do you think that maybe she just cut herself when he kicked her or hit the fence or could it be something worse? no vet as it is x-mas none tomorrow either. She is eating/drinking normal we gave her some senior feed and some warm water, just seemed to be happy to be away from him. What do you all think? Should i be worried?
I have no idea what to say to that. There isn't a lot you can do right now, anyway, except wait and see what she looks like in the morning. Except maybe check on her once during the night?
I would definitely get the vet out as soon as you can. If its internal bleeding, that's not something to mess around with. Just keep a close eye on her until them.

ok i stayed up all night checking on them and she layed down for about a hr and then was back up thats normal for her she lays down about 3 times a day/night to sleep. this morning she is up, eating, drinking and happy to be without him. and my daughter checked her this morning and said there is absolutely NO blood anywhere. think she will be alright? or still have her checked? i can not get her to a vet today, not open and we are in the middle of a storm right now.
You don't think your mare is in heat do you? I mean that would explain why the gelding is gamey and also why she's passing blood.
I know geldings aren't supposed to notice, but some do and some will try to mount a mare in heat.
ok just went and checked her myself and this is what it looks like. to me it looks like she may have hit it and cut it and looks swollen. what does every one else think?
sorry for the pic....
if you look to the bottom left side it looks like there is a little cut skinned area there also....
she was a brood mare for a long time, she is a direct daughter of easy jet and they used her as a breeder yrs. before i got her. so she kinda comes in and out of heat randomly or like when she is introduced to new horses, mares or males doesn't matter it is really weird, she will come in for a day and quit or a week and quit. we've only had this gelding since october he is a new addition, but he didn't seem to care when shes was in heat before not even when we first introduced them and she came in. and watching her closely today she doesn't seem to be in heat.
Any chance she could have been bred, and is aborting?
No, no chance she was breed we've had her over a yr, and she has not been in any contact with any studs.
Have you confirmed that the new gelding is indeed a gelding and not uncut? That was where I was originally going with that...
