5 year old is constipated and there is a snow storm-any home remedies?
My son had a cold last week and the cold medicine has really backed him up. He didn't go yesterday and he still hasn't gone today. I thought he would go at daycare but nope, I have a children's "mild laxative" that I gave yesterday(although I had to mix it with juice so I don't know how much he got) but it hasn't helped. Right now he's sitting on the toilet having a temper tantrum saying he doesn't want to go poopie, but he is also holding his stomach. It's to the point where I want to take him to the dr(or urgent care place since dr isn't open and I don't think it warrants ER) but the roads are absolutely horrible.
Does anyone have any safe and effective home remedies for quick relief?
Right after I hit submit he started going, YAY!
Lol. I was feeling bad for him. I was thinking of stuff in the cabinet that would work...
have you tried soaked beat pulp ? good for what ails ya
with my kids, large ammounts of apple or grape juice would do the trick
Raisins, prunes, porridge. When my sis in law was expecting twins that was her biggest problem. Prunes worked by raisins are pretty good. Most kids like raisins.
And for quick action-Prune Juice!. Probably could cut it with some apple juice, but glad the problem worked itself out for now.
Pear juice is also good, should he not enjoy the taste of prune juice.
Thanks for all the tips :-)
I know the biggest problem is his eating habits, he is SO stubborn! Tonight for instance I made salmon, rice and broccoli, I knew he probably wouldn't eat the salmon, but I put it on his plate without saying anything. "I don't like that, this isn't good, I'm not eating it" I just say ok, but you have to sit here then. He literally sat there over an hour and refused to eat! The kid cannot live on chicken nuggets as much as he would love to and his father would be content to allow him(since it's easy). I'm tired of always being the bad guy and I hate that he went to bed i without eating but if he keeps getting nuggets in the end, then he will always just not eat and hold out for his dad to cave in.
Anyone have suggestions for picky eaters?
He does get daily vitamins(hero national yummi gummies) but that is not a substitute for not eating real food :-(
