I want to do a very detailed barn cleaning here soon. My barn is very old and is built with large cinder block type bricks and a metal roof. It has no electricity either. I want to do a nice thorough cleaning before spring comes (and bugs) because that is when I will be painting the barn door and some other things to lighten it up a bit. I want to get as much cleaning done as I can this winter. Cob webs, mold (yes we have a bit of a flooding and leaking problem), and organizing.
We tend to have a BUNCH of bugs in the spring/summer (example: spiders, mud wasps, the ones who build nests out of mud and poo, beetles, and mosquitoes. I have heard that if you clean your barn really nicely and then spray Lysol over the areas that get spiders the most, it will help protect that area from the spiders coming back. I am a big baby when it comes to bugs (besides fly's) and I want to prevent as many as I can from coming back. I also hate all the spider webs the spiders leave up in the rafters and such.
Any tips on how to go about this? And maybe what to use on the mold?
For mold, use bleach.
