I have a young horse that likes to play with the bit. I'm looking into getting a bit with copper rollers in it. Do they work for this type of situation?
Something similar to this:
One of the horses I rode for quite a while liked playing with the roller on his western ported bit. I wanted to ride him in a snaffle, so bought the one you're looking at (different cheeks though, I got him a D ring) and the horse didn't respond the way I'd hoped- he didn't play with the rollers, or seem to notice or care.
Beyond that, the mouthpiece on that bit is absurdly straight, with no bend for the shape of the tongue or anything.
What I wound up with for my sweet little draft horse was a bit with copper keys for him to play with :)
