Can Anyone Recommend A Good Sweet Wine?
I was given a bottle of Decoy brand Pinot Noir for my 21st birthday a week ago and I just openned it (beings as it's new years) and it was okay, a bit strong for my taste. It's definately a drier, earthy type of wine and I'm more of a sweet type person. Most of my family drinks the drier wines so they're really no help haha.
So brings me to the title question...
Can anyone recommend a good, sweet, fruity, lightish wine?
I plan on trying out a wine tasting or two so I don't look like a complete idiot if I decide to order a glass when out. I need a wine edu-ma-cation haha.
I don't know much about wine, but try white Zinfandel. I really enjoyed that wine and I'm not really a drinker (wine or otherwise).
Yup Zinfandel if you want sweet.....although I get the most horrendous hang overs from drinking it.......I stick to Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blancs.....Oyster Bay (a NZ wine) Wolff Blass is good too......
Moscato is really yummy. I also like plum wine.
I'm thinking of taking a visit to a local Winery this week, I was checking out their website and they have Strawberry wine? I thought that was only a song!(Deana Carter anyone?) Is it any good?
Im gonna vote for Moscato. I had some tonight, and it has the sweet taste and I enjoyed it.
I wont say I'll drink wine now, and I'll never buy a bottle myself, but you can bet I'll drink some if it's offered :p
My mum's friend that brought it over said she chose it over the White Zinphandel because it had a sweeter taste (she figured we'd like it better for our little under 21 toast (like a shot glass size..except I got half a glass :p )).
Phantomcolt, I cant speak for the brand (not sure what brand Ive tasted), but if it's relatively cheap..it's probably the one that I dont like..at all, lol. I asked for a glass last year at christmas because my mum had it and I took the tiniest sip and almost spit it out on the table, haha.

I agree with the moscato suggestions. I also enjoy ports. If you want to try something really sweet you could have ice wine.

I've always been fascinated with wine just never had someone teach me about the different kinds. The smells and colors tend to draw me in more than anything haha I can literally stare at a glass of wine just entranced by the color (if it's a good color). That's what I did with the Pinot Noir I got I literally took about three sips and then just sat it on the table admiring the color. Very pretty, just too bitter for my taste.
Here's the wine, such a gorgeous color! Very deep burgandy. It had late undertones of raspberry, cherry, and plum. The initial taste is the dry, aged earthy flavor and it kinda stays with the wine the entire time. Also, was laced with the flavor of a spice I couldn't quite figure out. I tried to pick out the flavors as best as I could, it was interesting to say the least.
Check out dessert wines and ice wines (rieslings).
Dessert wines are my favorite. They come in all sorts of fruity flavors! Stawberry, raspberry, blueberry, sangria...the list goes on and on! Linganore is the brand that comes to mind most (they're a Maryland winery), and Mount Hope is a close second (they're a Pennsylvania winery). I'm currently working through a bottle of sangria wine and have a bottle of strawberry waiting for me when I'm done.
