Which Stallion to chose?
Were breeding my mare, Classie Lassie LWR, for the 2009 season. Were having trouble choosing one. Here's the info on the Mare:
"Classie" is a 1991 APHA Dun Overo mare. She has a dorsal stripe, dark withers and has light leg barring on her front legs. Her ears are tipped with black. She stands a little over 15 hands and is a thick mare. She is a great mother, will let you work with foal. No foaling problems, she should is sound to breed. She is the barn favorite. Never mareish. Bred her via AI in 2002 - her DNA is on file with APHA. She IS POSITIVE for OWLS (no overo and only homozagous tobianos)! We would like to breed her to a quater horse or paint, with cow horse bloodlines. We would like the stud to be proven w/ show record and would prefer it to be at least the 2nd foal crop. We are willing to pay up to $2500 and want to breed AI. She has had 6 foals, but her first 2 died, one was born lethal white and the other was born in a pasture in the winter in the snow and froze th death  . I didn't not own her when these breedings/foalings took place. i included a few pics of her and 2 of her past foals and a list of some studs i like.
I don't see a list of the studs? What are you plans for the baby?
Re: Which Stallion to chose?
Yah, I had her up for lease for a little, but her current leaser is going to to continue leasing her until we breed her.
Sorry, I forgot to include the stallions:
You didn't say exactly what you want the foal for? I personally would not even breed her with her being OWLS positive but that's just me I guess. Deff. do your homework and make sure the stallion you pick has been tested for OWLS and HYPP. If you want a reining prospect, i'd stick to the Topsail Whiz line.
