Are your kids into horses?
I have two boys, age 6 and 2 neither of them are really into horses. My oldest will ride occasionaly but only if I drag him along, he never asks to go out for a ride. He talks about his horse (Actually my mare) and says he wants to be around when the broodmares are foaling but he isn't a horse lover for sure. My friends always assumes that it bothers me because of how much the horses mean to me, but it doesn't. If they want to be around the horses I will encourage it, if they don't, oh well.

Are you guys kids into horses? If not, does it bother you?

I meant YOUR kids obviously. Proof reading is not my strong point.

Muppet Girl, you could always buy your daughter a cute little Guess My Flash colt for her to raise up!

I just sold my Big Chex To Cash filly, she was a cute mare.

My kids are grown up, daughter is still into horses & shows & has a beautiful ranch. Son is not, when he was little we dragged him along to shows & made him compete (little bugger won everything). Now I have a granddaughter from said son, totally obsessed with horses, in fact I have never seen a toddler so into horses! My daughter gave her a retired show horses, all that comes out of that kid's mouth is "Otis my or-say". We go to the tackstore, this year & a half year old child inspects every piece of tack, we have to spend an hour there otherwise she cries. When I babysit her, she insists we go outside to see/feed the "0r-says" every hour on the hour, the kid is in heaven when we go for a ride & when we are through riding, she wants to go in the arena & pretend she is a horse! Hmmmm, wonder where she got this obsession from? Anyone?

My daughter is a horse nut - she is her mother's child. She is actually the reason we have horses at this time. I had sold my last horse when I was 16....I had DD when I was 19...she hit the ground with the horse bug. We were able to limp along with pony rides, friends of mine from the farm store that had a boarding barn, etc where we could get her around horses as much as possible - but the ONE thing she wanted was her own horse. Finally, on her 12th birthday, I was able to give her her birthday wish - I had talked my husband into fencing our property and getting her a horse. Now we have two, because my own horse fever resurfaced once we brought home her girl.
DS could take or leave it. He likes the horses, especially my little mare - he'll toodle around on them in the pasture a few times a year, etc but he is by no means a horse nut, at all.

No :(

My daughter LOVED riding when she was 2 and 3.... old bombproof pony went to pony heaven, and I was pregnant so she had a break from riding . We got Simba for her before her 5th birthday and she loved him but not riding. I sold him last week.... I've been threatening to for a while as she had zero interest in coming to see him if it was remotely chilly when I was out with Bandit. To me thats not enough drive to warrant being lucky enough to have a pony.

My little lad is only 18 months... he moo's at the horses and hops about when I've got the racing channel on... only time will tell if he goes for it or not.

Maybe she'll want back into it at some stage.. I won't push her. It might not be her cuppa tea and I'm happy to let her find her thing :)

My youngest triplet is into horses like I am. She sits on my knee and we go through all kinds of paint horses on the website or on the youtube. This is about the only way to feed our horse addiction.
My oldest triplet couldn't careless about horses. My middle one is not to fussy about them either...mind you....dapple greys will turn her head.

My DD is 22 now, but I gave her lessons when she was, oh, maybe 7 or so? She was ambivalent. She liked going, had a great time but never caught the bug.

She was also hugely allergic. I gave her a bit of kids benadryl beforehand, I groomed her lesson pony, tacked it up, then got my horse ready for my lesson whilst she was riding. Then when she was done, I quick groomed and put away her pony whilst she washed her face, hands and changed her t-shirt. Then I went to have a lesson whilst she watched.

A ton of work for me but if she were really in to it, I would've bought her a pony in a heartbeat! She had a nice natural seat too. Sigh...
