Tipperary Sportage?

I'm getting a helmet soon, and for now I'm riding in the barn's Troxel Sport. I find it quite bulky and very hot during the summers, especially here down South :)

I was looking to get a Tipperary Sportage, and since safety is my main concern, is it safe? I want to be protected if I take a tumble....is it worth the money? Thanks!

I LOVE mine! :) It seems safe, its ASTM-SEI certified and I like how it drops lower in the back than the typical helmet.

me too. and it isn't expensive, either

Love it. Doesn't get hot.

? expense ? it's one of the lower priced helmets. But I like them. Wish they came in lighter colors they promised two years ago

I love my Tipperary Sportage, but definitely try one on before you buy. Troxels and Tipperary's seem to fit fairly different head shapes, with Troxel being more round and Tipperary being more oval.

I find that all riding helmets are bulky, and I didn't notice any less bulk the time I tried ordering one of the $200-300 helmets. (This is one of my pet peeves... if road biking helmet manufacturers can use higher quality materials to create slimmer profile/higher ventilation helmets that offer the same amount of protection as the cheap bike helmets then why can't equestrian helmet makers do the same?) Some of the more expensive ones do have better ventilation, but that's not as important to me because it doesn't really get hot where I live, so I can't really speak to that aspect as much.

I love my Tipperary Sportage - I have a more oval shaped head so my helmet choices are basically either Tipperary or Charles Owens and as I'm not showing right now it is nice to have the option of a still safe, but cheaper helmet for showing.

I find the Sportage super comfortable and the XS is small enough even for my tiny head (I'm typically a 6 1/2 in a Charles Owen).
