Lame from banging a leg in to a car

My horse gets very excited and prances and dances around almost every end of my ride. That's his personality to get heated up like a race horse. Today I was trying to walk him in to the yard after a ride and he was dancing around in circles until he suddenly banged his back leg in to a car. Now he is lame and won't put much pressure on the leg but when I feel all around it's very hard to tell where exactly the pain is coming from. Could be pastern joint where he has an old injury of a calf kick. I cold hosed and put anti-inflammatory cream all over. Now in stall rest and will continue pressure and cold hosing as often as possible. Should I have him in complete stall rest and for how long? Is there anything else I can do? Should I bandage the leg? Thank you!
