Help! Saddle fit
This is my 6 year old arabian in a demo Thorowgood Broadback. It seems to fit pretty well... my only concern is it seems to tip up in the back ever so slightly. Wondering if this might be fixed with the different billet arrangements. She has a pretty flat back and the saddle is supposed to be pretty flat. This is about the 9th saddle I have tried on her... she has been an absolute pill to fit. I believe this is the closest I have gotten!
Any input is greatly appreciated!!
Looks like it might fit, might be too wide though. Need pictures without a pad.
You have to post pics without the pad. It's hard to judge with one under.
From the second pic that looks a wide (red) gullet which from the shoulders is probably about right. In common with most modern saddles Thorowgoods are softly flocked which, together with the dropped front panel, means they often need extra wool in front to give a good fit, IMO.
Girthing on the 2nd and 4th billets might help stop the back lift short term, but it doesn't solve the underlying problem, of the saddle dropping slightly into the hollows behind the horse's shoulders.
Nice saddle - best of luck :)
