Just a small gripe

As my horse gets older and is graying out more and more, I'm noticing that he's getting some flea bites mixing in with the different shades of gray. This makes me sad. As far as I know, all his ancestors are solid grays. That's what I was hoping for because I'm not a fan of flea-bitten gray. *sigh* It just makes me bummed, but I love him anyway. I know that's petty. :)

Hey, I feel your pain. I have a fleabitten gray. Never been a fan of even just a regular gray, but really disliked the fleabitten look.

God has a wicked sense of humor.....

Kind of like how my heart horse is a red headed mare. I would have never guessed that one.

I prefer the fleabitten anytime over a solid white.....and I never wanted a gray...ended up having 7 at one time....oh well;-)

I love grays. I always have. The first horse I ever leased was a flea-bitten gray arab. My dream horse is a rose gray (or a darker gray) arabian gelding. Well, he started out nice and dark gray. I just don't want him to look permanently dirty as a flea-bitten gray. So very sad.

I shouldn't be too upset, though, because he has a full brother that is a month younger and is completely grayed out, but at least he isn't flea-bitten.

Since they don't stay dark gray forever you're eventually going to wind up with a white horse anyway, fleabitten or not.

Casper was a dark, dappled steel gray with black mane and tail when I got him. He now looks like this:
