My Horse and I Tackless for the first time With only 20 minutes of groundwork, by using the rope to teach stopping and backing up ques, so he understood how to react from the different rope pressures. It was more than just training, we connected with trust. The fact that he felt very willing to do this with me was how we were successful, that he understood me. |
very nice!! thanks for sharing. Claire |
Well, technically, you're not completely tackless, as you're using a cordeo. :D Very nice work, however, your horse looks responsive, willing and happy to be with you. Congrats on this achievement! |

No offense - it might be just me, but I consider any object we use to cue something to our horses, a piece of tack, even if it's just a piece of rope. That doesn't lessen the great thing you've done with your horse at all, on the contrary - it opens up space for even more achievements. :) |
Yea i think its a piece of tack but because its not considered that by the majority of people, and so many people on youtube call it tackless. I call it tackless because, it will get me more video views in the future (when i put these vids as public on youtube) and it just sounds better, because a heading like "riding horse with a rope" is not as good as "riding tackless". Maybe when people in the future, don't ride with bits as much, this will be more common and it will probably be called a piece of tack. |
It can be called riding bareback & bridleless, or riding with a cordeo, which it is. :) |
I will call it tackless, like all the other people on youtube who ride like this call it. And when its not called tackless than i call it what it is but by than i will be riding tackless for real. |
Of course, call it as you like. ;) I thought you might like this video - I adore this couple and they give me a lot of inspiration in things I'd like to achieve with my gelding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_mrqreHAwE |
