Stiff on one side

My paint appears to be stiff going to the left. Spiralling in/out does help, but I'm wondering what other helpful exersizes I could do during the warmup to loosen her. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I can't trailer for lessons till April, so addressing the problem during a lesson (as I used to do) is out of question at the moment. :(

I’m assuming you’re looking for general exercises, as there are no exercises for one way or the other. They are designed to make a horse both equally straight and supple on both sides. I’m also not sure how advanced your horse is, but leg yields, should in, walking squares, transitions, circles when done correctly will result in a horse that is more supple all over. Also haunches –in both directions helps. Probably the most important thing to remember is if the horse isn’t responding to correcting aids, then transition right away to a slower gait and re-group. Don’t keep going around in same position you are trying to avoid.

But when in doubt resort to Jane Savoie!

Haunches in is a great way to stretch the outside of the horse.
