I rode dallie 3 days ago...

She did good for the most part but when I went to stop her she didn't want to stop i pulled back said "ho" and pause and continue to walk... so I tried sitting back in my seat more and saying the whole "ho" thing again same response... since then I've been trying to do all the ground work... lounging pulling her in and saying "ho" it's seems to be clicking in her head for the most part...

But I was wondering if I was doing it right or if theres a better way to teach her how to stop... I know once I get on her back I'll have to do a lot of 1 rein stops and all that but if anyone has other suggestions or comments I'd really appericate it =]

to correctly stop a horse, you've got to disengage their hind-quarters.....simply pulling back on the reins will NOT do that, instead it normally keeps their hindquarters (their "engine") engaged.
Try doing a one rein stop next time, that will disengage her hindquarters and make her stop.

Make sure also when you ask her to stop you stop moving. Sit down deeply and put more weight on her hindquarters.

I normally stop my horse with a one-rein stop. It disengages their hind-quarters and also their mind. I'll ask for him to stop first by stopping my movement and putting my weight back, and if he won't listen, I'll do a one rein stop
