Back on Track western pad
I'm looking into a getting a thinner western saddle pad than what I have now. Possibly one of the Diamond Wool pads bought used. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a saddle pad that's 27" (the length I really need) without having to spend $$$$ to have one custom made.
In my lesson with the trainer today, she brought her back on track dressage pad. He seemed fine with it. She said it kept his back warm really well and thinks it made a difference with my ride. She wants me to buy the western saddle pad version. Three things were changed, so there's no way to know if it specifically helped or not.
I was looking online at the Back On Track western pads. I noticed that the description said to use under a western saddle pad. Is this correct? Would I still need to buy another saddle pad to use on top of the Back On Track pad?
I use BOT dressage pad as well and second it: my (rather cold-backed) qh warms up faster. Yes, with western you put it under the pad (as it's rather thin). I never used western one, but I'm sure it works same way as my dressage one.
Yes the BOT western pad IS an underpad....and 5 Stars make really nice pads and they make a 28" but will gladly cut you any length or style you need. They are GREAT pads for their price...and if your having trouble with finding pads for your guy I would get in contact with 5 star.
They are a little pricey but they are well worth it. (Running around $200)
The price is the problem. I'm trying to find an acceptable alternative. It's only for schooling at home, so it'll only be used 2-4 hours each week since he's still fairly young.
I just know that the pad I have now is definitely too thick for him.
