Looking for a new saddle, need some suggestions
I just got a nice little Arabian and I will need some new tack for him. Most of my tack is built to fit my bigger NSH and QH's.
What I'm looking for though is a saddle that is like an aussie, but lighter. Synthetic is fine, but I like leather too. No horns though. Don't like them. I need comfortable stirrups and thin leathers as my knees and feet will hurt without them.
I plan to trail ride and do some endurance for now. I have an english saddle that would fit him should I want to start showing.
I don't mind spending some money on a good quality saddle either.
I need a fleece or something like that for his girth. He is cinchy and the farm rode him in a fleece one for regular workouts. He liked it better. I'll ride him in other ones, but comfort is my main objective.
What width tree do the narrower arabs normally take?
And bits...I know their mouths are narrower. I don't think any of my bits will end up fitting.
Why not an aussie saddle? Mine is fairly light (much lighter than a western saddle), all leather, and no horn. Haven't weighed it, but I doubt my aussie saddle weighs much over 20lbs. They also make synthetic aussies. An aussie is pretty much the only saddle I can think of that fits all your needs/wants.

There are only 3 makers anymore that I know of that make a reasonably priced American Made Synthetic Western Endurance Saddle, there are many Indian Made ones, but we all know to stay away from them :-)
Look at Fabtron, Bighorn and Abetta and see what you think of one of those, they are all under 20lbs. Bighorn would be my 1st choice, Fabtron 2nd, Abetta Last
Wintec stock saddles are great! They don't have a horn and fit my Arab mare very well. Sometimes wish I still had mine, but can't use 'em to show in.
