How to warm a horse up for different events?

Barrel raceing: walk both directions 1 time, trot twice, and lope three. Then i do roll backs usually only two, i flex and bend both directions in all gaits, i counter arc at the walk, both directions, do a couple sliding stops and im done

??? I am confused by this thread...

It depends on the individual horse.

Once at a walk, but three at lope?

Personally I feel like that is too much loping, and not nearly enough trotting. When I warm up I focus the most on getting a nice slow walk and then being able to loosen it up and add some reach, before moving on to the trot and doing the same thing. My personal warmups are never really lope or canter focused, i focus more on bending and flexing and controlling the gaits.

Usually we just ride around a while, usually. Once we signed up then parked. Our daughters pony was still in the trailer when they called her name! We tacked on the way to the arena! Lol. She took high point that day :)

When i am warming up my horse i want to wear him out so i do the 1 2 3 method because the lope wheres him out quicker
