Oh the crazy things we do for them.

So it's been very wet here the past few days, and while it's been warm, the temperatures are set to be in the 20s and 30s for the weekend. My hubby and I are going out of town, and my not- so- horse- savvy brother in law will be watching the horses while we're gone for the weekend. He knows how much hay to give them (grain would be too much trouble), but I've GOT to get Ginger's blanket on her before we go.

I don't have a barn yet, and Mellow has taken over the tractor shed to the point that my other two won't even try to go in it (Even if he isn't there). My solution? The space under my play room, of course!

I just rigged some lattice board across the entrance so they'd stay put (Duncan has to follow Ginger everywhere). They were nervous at first because the ceiling is rather low, but they've settled in nicely.

Mellow refused to stay at the shed without the other two, so I put his hay outside so he could be close. He's got such a thick coat I don't care if he gets wet.

What crazy/ silly things have you done for your horses? Share a picture if you have one!

Over at the pasture? Yup. They're used to being in barbed wire-- they had it where I was pasture boarding and at my mom's house before that. No problems with it yet. We'd like to make it a wood fence one day, but for now it does the job.

All our horses have ever had for fencing is barbed wire. They get used to where the fence is.
