Does anyone knoe if you can ise Drano or the likes on a dish washer to get it unplugged? I'm not having much luck tearing it apart.
Try it, it won't hurt it, if it works for pipes, it might work for your dishwasher. Let us know if it does work, or if you are doing dishes by hand, lol.
No...... Drano contains Lye which can damage the Rubber Seals in the Pump
Have you tried cleaning the screen?
Have you checked the drain hose to see if it is clogged?
Well, I did this load by hand.
Tore it apart a little more and only found a metal thingie that looks like its supposed to be a food chopper that is usually in sinks.
Ran it just with water but it's still not draining. Maybe I can tear it apart more. If it doesn't go back together, it's technically Tiffanny's so....
They make these bloody things impossible to work on, let alone getting in there with a cast on your arm still.
Is the drain hose supposed to be behind it?
No Draino. Plumbers strongly dislike it. Just in case you end up needing one.
I asked the BF (ex-plumber) on suggestions for non-draining dishwasher. Well, his words on what it is aren't forum safe haha. So good luck!
And yes drain hose is supposed to be there. He said if its not draining, its normally the pump is messed as its not pumping water out anymore. That is his guess because of the description of the food chopper thing in the bottom. But it is seriously lacking information to make a call on it of course.
We just had to replace ours and we got a pretty good one for $350. So at least they aren't super crazy expensive to replace. But from what I get from the BF, most dishwashers just need to be replaced once they start messing up, because of how much fun they are to work on. Stupid things.
Great news, Diesel... LOL
You're in Alberta, send him over!
Models are different, but most I have seen the screen is in the bottom of the DW under, then the water is pulled into the pump and the drain in below the DW or comes out the side and ties into the sink drain.
Does the pump turn on? It may be the pump, but usually the drain has become clogged.
If you google the model number you may find a schematic which would give you an idea how to access the screen and.or see where the drain hose goes inside the DW
It does drain after awhile (just checked and it was empty). Pump SEEMS to work. This one is built in though, so I can't pull it out. A plumber may be needed...
Now, if it were limping I might be more useful...lol
