Neck Threadworms
So i have agelding that is absolutely miserable from June to the end of september, No matter how much spray i use his whole belly turns scabby and leathery and the top of his tail and mane are itched till nearly gone and loses hair around his eyes, this yr i coated his belly in ointment daily, bathed every couple of days, fed flax flt sprayed 1-2x daily, wormed him regularly... In winter he is fine but i cant help but think that NTWs are the culprit, should I do the double ivermectin does now even tho he is asymptomatic or wait until the warmer weather comes ?

Wait till you see the very first signs of itching and immediately double dose.

(itching means the "babies" are hatching basically which is what the dewormer kills. The adults are impervious to dewormer because of where they are located so you are just killing babies till the adults die off naturally over time - sometimes a couple years)

Double dose again in 2 weeks if the symptoms are still strong and then once a month or as soon a it gets worse again no sooner than 2 weeks apart. You will usually see an immediate flair up the first 3 to 5 days after a double dose if its NTWs as the microfilira die off.

Double dosing now when the adults are dormant will have no effect.
