Found a new barn!

Yippeee! I posted on here that my barn went up from $800 to $950 and then we had a hay surcharge of $60, all within 3 months time. I felt like I had no alternative to paying it, but with some sleuthing, found an incredible barn that would be just perfect for myself, my horse and my friend and her horse. We want to move together. I also looked at a barn that was a "dump." Had 55 horses on a property that should have no more than 30. Ruled that one out rather fast!
It will be hard to leave my "old" barn as I was there for 10 years but I can't afford over $1,000. New barn is pristine with wonderful trails and considerably less costly.

Excellent! :D Glad you found a new place.

Good for you! always nice to save some cash...

I know exactly how you feel. Our board went up and talk of it going even higher soon. So I started looking at other barns. I found one 20 min closer to home and about the same price as I was paying not to mention they have a bunch of stuff the other place didn't. And best of all she said she would make room for my 2 and my friend's horse. (We always board together). It is so exciting!!!

Thanks for sharing, Kato. It is exciting! Enjoy your new barn. There's always some lag time - give notice at old barn etc. We're not moving until March 1st. By then the weather will be nicer and we can actually RIDE. Right now in Massachusetts it's been in the teens and single digits with fierce wind chills. Not unlike Minn. I imagine! Best! Em

Wow, the drama continues!

We had new boarding contracts layed out on top of our tack trunks today. Since the board went up so much (over $1,000) boarders have been looking to 1/2 lease their horse to help lower expenses. But the new contract says that now if we lease to someone, our board will go up to compensate for the extra services. AND the BO has to personally approve the person who will lease our horse. Not that I was thinking of going this route, but I couldn't quite believe it. Talk about a control freak!
Does this seem over the top or am I overreacting>

Congrats! I hope you like the new barn!!!!

That does seem way over the top! I thought it was bad that I was paying over $230/ month for each of my girls! Over 1000? Yikes I couldn't have a horse if it was that much!

I move March 1st as well. I'm sure you can't wait for the month to be over.

That does seem WAY over the top. I think she will find that a lot of people will be moving their horses at this point. That is just insane.

Wow, what "extra services" are there when someone half leases a horse? Usually the person who leases just shows up and rides- which isn't any different than if the owner was riding every day. It sounds like the BO is trying very hard to empty out her barn O_o
