Another First Time Mini Owner
This little guy just moved into our home. He's 17, and his previous people had to move from their home and into town and could no longer keep him. He came to us with "elf feet" which the farrier fixed this last weekend. He was such a good boy, we were so proud of well he behaved. His new name is Smokey and he will be a companion to our regular size horse when we ride and have to leave one home alone.
I will get some better pictures when it's spring and he looses all his woolies, today it was 0 with a way low wind chill, as you can see he's trying to line up to get his feed without getting blown away.
I have wanted a mini for quite a while and what better way than to help give an older guy a home.
He's adorable! You will have such fun with him. If you have any problems/questions about Minis, do join our Mini Horse forum - Li'l Beginnings. Hundreds of very knowledgeable Mini owners there.
Do be careful when introducing him or keeping him with full size horses. Most don't do it. One quick turn or playful kick, can kill a Mini. Make sure not to overfeed him. Minis founder quickly. Just an hour or maybe two, of pasture each day.
Thank you, we have a dry paddock area he will live in where he will get a bit of feed - only in very cold winter temps - and hay. I will check out your forum, thank you.
