More work blues...
WELL I finally got my three shifts a week... but now everyones hours have been cut and I'm down to two. Still better than before, I'm working nine hours a week (ugh) but it's more than everyone else is working. BUT my boss has cut the hours from 11:00 - 5:15 to 11:00 - 5:00 for all closing shifts... except you aren't allowed to close the till before 5:00 so you have to do the fifteen minutes worth of cash count, doors locked, shut down... unpaid? I understand the pay cut, I understand the hour cuts, but this is ridiculous. 30 minutes a week is about $6 worth of work that I'm not being paid for... doesn't seem like much but it ads up and I'm just sick of him being cheap.

-end rant-

I would definitely look into the legality of that, and start putting in applications elsewhere.

Pretty sure it's illegal. Get another job lined up and report it. My second day I didnt finish closing until 11.30-11.45 and they tried to say I only worked till 9. Sorry, but I don't work for free, and the laws are on my side.

Do you have an electronic time card? I would not "clock out" until I was finished closing.

From what you have said in previous threads though, I would look for a different job.

We do clock in and out, however they go off of the schedule, not what time you actually clock in and out... it's frustrating. My mum suggested putting in a complaint to the labour board but I think I'm just going to end up looking for another job... I'm just worried I wont be able to find something with my availability with school.

There is ALWAYS something available. Movie theaters are usually good with school schedules and there are other opportunities available. Look into retail merchandising for one. As silly as it sounds, Craigslist is not a terrible place to look for jobs, and there is also career builder and other sites. Get on it! You do not deserve this.
