What makes you think that Camelot horses are western? About all that is known typically is whether or not they may be broke-occassionally they do say one will neck rein.

I have a friend who has gotten 3 from there, all being h/j types.

I am pretty confident that there are some western horses around you that may not be auction horses. I would steer away unless you are a really experienced horse person, and/or are taking one with you and have one to help after you get the horse home. You will also need to allow at least a 30 day quarantine, so make sure you have a facility ready for that. An inexperienced person at an auction has a really high probability of ending up with a problem. JMHO.

We got one at my barn, I believe.

Lazarus. Ugh.
We were told he was been ridden, and he was a gelding.
We're not too sure though. Very disrespectful, and I can't remember why but I'm pretty sure it was his behavior, the BO thought he was a crypt orchid (idk if that's even the right word or spelling)

Aren't most Camelot horses TBs? Which means they're probably ex-racers, not Western horses.

Not saying they can't be retrained, just that the majority of them aren't what I'd consider WP prospects.

The guy we got was most definitely not a TB. Definitely a qh mixed with something gaited

A QH/gaited cross isn't what I'd consider a good candidate for WP, either.

TurnNBurn144 01-23-2013 01:00 PM

not wp. a lot are qh crosses, paints, ponys once and a while you get a tb, drafts. i have plenty of experiance! my last horse was an ottb and me and my old trainer had him working well. its all english around here. but i would be working with a trainer.

Well then, I don't understand your first post. What does buying from Camelot have to do with there being no Western in your area?

TurnNBurn144 01-23-2013 01:06 PM

there arent many western horses for sale. ive seen a lot of quarter horse types at camelot. the horses around here that are western are $5000 and up for just a w/t/c abled horse that neck reins. i think im gonna stop before i confuse anybody else.
