Who has insurance for their horse? Specifically, I'm asking more about medical/surgical insurance, not mortality. Have you ever needed to use it? Have you always met your deductible? What company do you get insurance through? has there been anything your insurance HASN'T covered? Thanks!
I don't have it yet, but I do plan on getting it. I mainly want it incase something happens like colic or something
I'll be using Blue Bridle insurance since I've heard alot of good things about it
I havn't got insurance on my horses but I do have rider insurance for myself. I should look into getting some for the horses though. :)
I have insurance on both my horses. You are only covered for death if they are insured under $5,000 I believe. Once they are insured at at least 5 grand, then you start being covered for major medical/surgical and accident death.
I know both my brats are covered for both, just never had to use the major medical/surgical end of things.
Kelly I would love to know more about your insurance company. I want to get my stallions insured just in case!
You bet :) If you want to pm me to remind me and I will send you all the info and contact numbers to you when I get home this afternoon :)
I've looked into it. I want to insure my baby. I have a friend that used the insurance for an issue her QH (it's an off the track horse) had w/ one of the legs. I forget the exact issue but after the insurance paid for the initial procedure, they sent them a letter saying they would no longer cover injuries to THAT leg.
Another of my friends has her horse under a different insurance, I'd have to ask which, I know it's a lot more expensive. She insured him for $25K. She's never had issues, she has used her insurance for crazy stuff to like electro shock therapy on a splint and acupuncture...
I just want major medical and mortality..... I've looked at several things but havent taken the plunge... could have used it for beauty, she was 6k for her leg injury.....
