Bad...bad posture.. :S
Well....i looked at some pics my dad took of me and Luca, and I noticed my posture was bad as! I look like I'm leaning back too far and that I looked a bit too tall for Luca! (well, not really but I look really tall compared to Luca, but he's 16hh!!!) And...then I noticed, I'm sitting too far to the front of the horse! My feet are right by his front legs!!
I've just started bareback riding, and I love it, but now I just saw how wrong my posture is!!!! What do you guys think...what can I do to I prove it...just sot further to the back of the horse a little bit? Pram I doing something else wrong as well?
-oh amd by the way, Luca has just been broken in, he's only had about 8 rides so far, only 4 of them being proper rides (no lead rope, lunge line or person standing in the middle of the paddock with a whip to keep him moving when he had one of his stubborn moments.)
First off, your posture is not that bad! When I read your description, I was bracing myself for something horrible!!!
Second, bareback posture is different than saddle posture.
Thirdly, stop being so hard on yourself!
Watch this video.. it'll help you work on your posture.

Your helmet looks really small o.O haha,
As for your posture it's really hard to have a 'correct' posture/position bareback, it really depends on how the horse is built. Yes ideally your legs should be a touch back which comes naturally in a saddle and for you to roll your bum under (sit on your pockets) but keeping a nice straight back(like you have)
You don't look at all big for that horse, STB? He seems to be built down hill which is why you would have to tendency to lean a little back and put your legs forward.
Don't be to harsh on yourself while bareback, your position at the halt and walk are great. But keep riding bareback! Great for your balance, and being able to feel the horse more. (:
Thanks everyone, and yea, Luca is a STB :)
Hmm...I never noticed anything unusual about my helmet, and it fits perfectly. Ohh, yes! I remember! The front of it fell off a little while ago, that's what makes it look so small. It's reattachable though, I just dont know how to do it
Your posture is not bad at all, bring your shoulders back just a bit more & you would be darn near perfect. I have no idea how you can get crocs to stay on your feet while riding when I can't even walk across the garden without losing one!
